This village is several kilometers long, and it attracts families who wish to settle in the country.
Its church, proudly built in the heart of the village, dates from the 12th and 17th centuries, and it contains a bell called Marie-Caroline, which chimes regularly as part of the life of the village’s inhabitants. After the bell was recently returned to the church tower, the local council decided to have it set up in such a way that it can be seen from below while standing in the church porch... Not to be missed !
A well-marked walking path, which starts in the square, leads you to the Neudins valley (16 kilometers, with alternative paths). The so-called Crézecques path also allows you to admire several private houses, such as the Manoir de Crézecques, as well as the Château De St Martin and the Stiembecque Tower, which remind us of the old seigniorial domains in this area. It is even said that the hamlet of Lostebarne, where a specialist in medieval pottery has taken up residence, was once a colony for sick villagers. With its very popular jumble sale and events organized by the villagers, you will love this picturesque place.
Two kilometers away, going towards Bonningues les Ardres, follow the signs to the Chapelle St Louis … There is a car park where you can leave your vehicle. You will love the ruins of a chapel which you will find on this promontory. Druids are said to have assembled here, and St Louis is said to have come here … So much history and so many legends which will interest both young and old ! There is an excellent view of the whole Calais area, with an orientation table.
